Japanese police on Saturday arrested Mark Karpeles, head of the MtGox Bitcoin exchange, after a series of fraud allegations led to its spectacular collapse and hammered the digital currency's reputation.
Long one of the most ambitious projects in the industry, decentralized application platform Ethereum is set to open to the public tonight.
US retail giant Overstock has sold $5m of a recently issued "cryptobond" to FNY Managed Accounts, a New York-based trading firm.
The coming years will be transformative for blockchains as the technology starts to find its way into many processes and markets beyond cryptocurrencies.
In the years ahead, look for projects that leverage the Bitcoin network to greatly expand mainstream banking infrastructure's reach into new markets - particularly those in volatile economies.
